The NRM party votes its parliamentary and local council flag bearers today, with several ministers facing a tough test to retain their seats.
A Daily Monitor survey shows that ministers Hope Mwesigye (Kabale), Emmanuel Otaala (West Budama South), Dorothy Hyuha (Butaleja) and Beatrice Wabudeya (Budadiri West) face stiff opposition in their bids to keep their parliamentary slots.
Other ministers fighting for their political lives are Asuman Kiyingi (Bugabula South), Bright Rwamirama (Isingiro North), Urban Tibamanya (Kashari) and Richard Nduhura (Igara East).
However, Vice President Gilbert Bukenya, First Lady Janet Museveni and minister Amama Mbabazi look like they will have a smooth sail to the party ticket—especially with little-known politicians standing in their way.
Police chief Kale Kayihura yesterday said he will pitch camp in Sembabule to ensure order in one of the districts that has seen an escalation of violence ahead of the polls.
